Interview
“Women are tender, but they can actually be quite aggressive and unpredictable,” said Alston when he asked about his inspiration for his work with Weddingku. To him, every woman has her own appeal, “Every individual woman is beautiful in her own way; it’s how she strengthens her natural features that I find most interesting,” he said meaningfully.

To show a 1001 ways a woman can be enchanting, Alston does not hesitate to mix-and-match materials like, peacock feathers, seashells, and Swarovski crystals. And ALAKAZAM…just like magic, Alston’s imagination and creativity transforms into a variety of accessories that are all very different form on another. It’s energetic, glamorous, and of course, feminine.

His spontaneous creations make the name of the man who loves Japanese Anime, very well known in fashion world. Many models in various magazines have worn Alston Stephanus Accessories. His designs have also been used in fashion shows by designers: Taruna K. Kusmayadi, Rusli Tjohnardi, Hengky Kaliwarang, and Diana Goh in her collection titled “The Attic Brides.” In 2006, the Indonesian Miss Universe pageant trusted kebaya designer Anne Avantie and Alston Stephanus to make the National Costume.

It comes at no surprise that his favorite color is orange and he uses it in surprising ways. “It feels great what I experiment with something unusual and transform it into wearable beauty,” Alston said during the interview.

Alston described the inspirational moment when he was participating dressage horse riding, before his championship in PON 2004, and had the sudden thought to make special accessories just for horses. He loves animals so much, that he practically has a small zoo in his back yard.

Not only are animalistic features his style, but another trademark of Alston Stephanus Accessories is the durable framework of the designs. Alston has his reasons for this, “I don’t want the wearer’s of my accessories to be afraid that they might easily damage or break them. Quality is the most important thing to me.”
